Relines
A reline of a denture is required to restore the fit of the denture to the tissue bearing surface area.
When people suffer loss of a tooth, many changes occur in the mouth. As a part of healing the socket will close over time resulting in resorption of the bone where the tooth was borne. The shrinkage of the gums generally would be very apparent in the first 3 months. Although, overall quite a lot of change in shape can occur over a 2 year period. Usually after this period the resorption of bone still continues at a much slower rate. The lower jaw tends to shrink faster than the upper. The dentures tend to be more vulnerable to movement on the lower and therefore may require more maintenance to refit the denture to improve stability. You should consult with your clinician if you notice stability becoming a problem to see what actions are needed.

Repairs
Dentures can be repaired, as accidents can happen. Whether a denture fractures in the mouth or accidentally dropped when cleaning the denture will be assessed and we try to improve on its strength if it is deemed necessary. Denture can be repaired within 1-2 hours depending on the nature of the problem.

Full Dentures
Full or Complete dentures are to restore all the teeth missing. Dentures at Mona Vale aims to provide dentures that look as natural as possible to provide an outcome that is pleasing. There are a number of tasks to complete in order to achieve the result in a predictable manner. This includes close communication and consultation throughout the process. The dentures are expected to be worn daily and last for many years therefore meticulous attention to detail are worth it in the long term. The teeth are selected to suite and have many different colours and moulds to choose from.
Consult with the clinician to gain more understanding of the process.

Partial Dentures
Partial denture restore missing teeth and gums, even though you may have some natural teeth left. The denture incorporates different components that provide stability when chewing. Partial dentures are important as they can stop natural teeth from drifting, maintain occlusion and help distribute the load applied during chewing. The design uses a major connector, or plate that connects all the teeth. The plate can vay by where teeth are missing and the material used. The partial dentures can be made from Cobalt Chrome, Acrylic, a combination of both or with the use of flexible resins. Consultation is needed to gain a further understanding as each person is unique in their circumstances.

Implant overdentures
Implant overdentures are dentures that are supported by their fit to the tissue bearing area, as well as engaging in the implant attachment, known as the abutment. There are many different systems and designs. The dentures are made to fit precisely over the implant to provide improved stability and chewing. These denture are particularly useful in stabilising lower full dentures. There is a screening process to initially interpret whether the surgery is possible. Bone density and certain medications can hinder the process as not appropriate. For this reason a consultation to discuss would be required. If implants are already in place, identifying the particular brand of implant abutment would then enable the dentures to be made to fit over these existing components.
